Bloom was a project created in 2003 by Anna Schuleit, to memorialize a building which had housed the Massachusetts Mental Health Center and was to be demolished in order for updated facilities to be built. Nearly 28,000 potted flowers were installed throughout the corridors, stairwells, offices and one swimming pool of the building, which was then opened to the public for a four-day viewing. The flowers were afterwards given to shelters and psychiatric hospitals across New England.
From the guest book:
For all the patients who never received flowers, these flowers are for you.
